Hyperpigmentation is a discolouration in the skin. Skin hyperpigmentation often takes the form of a brown spot on the hands, chest and/or face. Hyperpigmentation is often known as sun spots or age spots since these are two common causes for hyperpigmentation. Other causes for hyperpigmentation are genetics and any trauma to the skin which is why it is common to form scarring and hyperpigmentation from acne. Hyperpigmentation treatments or treatments for sun spot removal include photorejuvenation, microdermabrasion and chemical peels. Photorejuvenation specifically targets hyperpigmentation in the skin. Normally when eliminating brown spots, hyperpigmentation treatments are generally required as a series of treatments. The number of treatments will vary depending on your skin type and the severity of the condition. Typically 3-5 treatments are required depending on the skin type.

Many people who have had acne, often discover that once the acne has cleared, what is often left behind is a scar. Types of acne scars include ice pick scars, boxed scars, rolling scars and hypertrophic scars. Acne scars should be treated immediately to minimize the risk of permanent scarring. Acne scar treatments available include microdermabrasion, chemical peels and laser skin treatments. The best laser skin treatment for scarring is laser genesis as this laser forcing the collagen at the deeper levels of the skin to re-model and reproduce itself evening out the skin's surface. Normally acne scars do not develop overnight and naturally the procedure in eliminating these scars gradual as well. Normally multiple treatments are required. The best laser for scar treatment is the laser genesis.

Restylane ™, Perlane ™, and Juvederm ™ are popular dermal fillers. Dermal fillers are used to create fuller lips and to fill creases or wrinkles in the skin. Restylane, Perlane and Juvederm are all the same chemical compound. The difference between the three products is the size of the molecule or the arrangement of the molecule. The substance itself is called hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance in the body, therefore it is fully biocompatible with the body. Since this substance is natural, it is not a permanent solution to wrinkles or small lips. Normally the results of a treatment will last approximately 6 months before depletion. Hyaluronic acid attracts water molecules and allows these molecules to bind together, in turn, creating volume in the skin. The molecular arrangement of Perlane is larger than Restylane which is why Perlane is better for creases such as nasolabial folds (crease from the nose to the side of the lip). Restylane is composed of smaller molecules making this a popular filler for creating fuller lips. Juvederm has a combination of larger and smaller molecules.
